Cookie policy
What cookies are, which ones we use, and how you can change your consent at any time.
This cookie policy explains what cookies are, which ones we use on moneyweb.ai and our subdomains (e.g. website.moneyweb.ai, where you can try out your website), and how you manage your consent. Please also read our privacy policy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser when you visit a website. Among other things, they make the site work and remember your choices. We also use related technologies such as localStorage, and we refer to all of them as “cookies” here.
2. How we use cookies
We divide cookies into three categories. Necessary cookies are always active, because the site can't work without them. Statistics and marketing cookies are only set if you give your consent.
| Category | Purpose | Requires consent |
|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Makes the site work and remembers your cookie choice. | No |
| Statistics | Helps us understand how the site is used (anonymised). | Yes |
| Marketing | Relevant content/ads and embedded content such as Google Maps. | Yes |
3. Specific cookies we use
| Name | Provider | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| mw_cookie_consent | Moneyweb (localStorage) | Necessary | Remembers your cookie consent. | 180 days |
| mw_intro_seen | Moneyweb (sessionStorage) | Necessary | Shows the intro animation only once per visit. | Session |
| Google Maps | Marketing | Set by the embedded map when you give consent. | Up to 2 years | |
| _clck, _clsk | Microsoft Clarity | Statistics | Anonymised insight into how the site is used (heatmaps and troubleshooting). | Up to 1 year |
| _fbp and others | Meta (Facebook/Instagram) | Marketing | Meta Pixel: shows you relevant ads and measures the impact of our advertising. | Up to 3 months |
The statistics and marketing tools (Microsoft Clarity and Meta Pixel) only load AFTER you have given consent to the relevant category, both on moneyweb.ai and on website.moneyweb.ai. Without consent, they don't load at all.
4. Third-party cookies
The embedded Google Maps in the footer only loads if you accept marketing cookies. The Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd.) only loads with marketing consent, and Microsoft Clarity only with statistics consent. We also load fonts from Google Fonts so the site displays correctly.
5. How to change or withdraw your consent
You can change your choice at any time here: Open cookie settings. You'll also find the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page.
You can also delete cookies directly in your browser. If you do, we'll ask for your consent again the next time you visit the site.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this cookie policy. The date of the latest update is shown at the top of the page.
